Startup Story of POPxo – The biggest Indian online platform for millennial women is POPxo. Priyanka Gill is the founder and CEO of POPxo. The platform for women is started by a woman herself in New Delhi, India. Priyanka Gill is a digital media entrepreneur who is also a fashion journalist having worked before for fashion magazines.

She is also an angel investor backing up many tech and food related startups. Priyanka launched a platform called Estylista back in 2013 with a partner, Namrata Bostrom in the UK as Priyanka was residing in London at that time.

Estylista was the same platform started with the same intent as POPxo. But, they later changed it to POPxo within a year and launched it in India. On this date, Priyanka is the solo founder of this brand.

POPxo was launched in India in March 2014. The time it was launched, it was one of a kind because no other digital platform existed back then that focused on the likes, dislikes, struggles, life, and happy moments of the girls. This website started out as a content writing platform writing fun articles related to fashion, lifestyle, beauty, shopping, health, and relationships. 

POPxo is a digital platform to read blogs on all genres, watch videos, get information, get in touch with other girls across the country, share their problems anonymously, and also shop. It is an online space to chat, hangout, read, watch, and shop. The owners of POPxo basically coin the brand as The Desi Girl’s Guide To Life & Love. 

POPxo has been continuously doing different things to be relevant with their audience and keep having the most relatable connection with them. They started with a group of writers and then hired style influencers and actors to create personalised videos for POPxo.

Those videos got the most reach and utmost love by the audiences because they created one of a kind content, supremely rich content, and all free of cost. They managed to gain the love of their targeted audience within months of their launch. They tied up with various fashion bloggers and influencers to create some content to reach the masses. 

POPxo tried and tested various things like any other startup and started different social media accounts and different Youtube channels for their brand like POPxo fashion, POPxo beauty etc.

But after sometime, they started a campaign called as POPxo, took it up as a Pop where they mixed everything back again and started working with one account on every social media called as POPxo Daily. The POPxo Daily Instagram account has almost 400k followers, the FB account of POPxo Daily has around 3M likes, their Youtube channel has 2.62M subscribers. 

POPxo also has their own e-commerce brand called POPxo shop selling cute millennial merchandise as well.

The team started with around 7 members and is now a big digital startup housing many more employees. Earlier, the team of POPxo included only women but with them they started hiring men as well. The investors backing up POPxo are The Chennai Angels, Kalaari Capital, IDG Ventures, and GREE ventures.
