Bewakoof is a fun and a very successful startup by two IITians, Prabhkiran Singh and Siddharth Munot. These two were in college when they came up with their start up idea and as soon as they got this idea, they got pretty serious about it.
Their business idea was to create some fun products for the youth that were witty and eye-catching. Then they started searching for their domain name and finalised with bewakoof.com as it was April month and they thought to go with this funny name in the April Fool’s month. They launched their site in 2012 after buying it in 2010.
Bewakoof was the name they finalised because they thought Bewakoof is the name given by the society to those people who do things out of the box and not as per the societal methods and they are the ones who make this world a better place to live. They thought this would be a nice name to begin with and it surely turned out to be in their favour.
Their target audience were the college students for whom they started creating humorous t-shirts depicting their life. Their idea and their products got a huge response from that targeted sector. They started their business marketing with Justdial and Facebook.
Within a few months, they were able to get 75k users on there. Facebook platform. They also partnered with the college students to popularise their brand in their college during the college fests.

Talking about the success mantra of their startup, Singh says, “Take a leap of faith and persevere,” We survived the storm. Today, Bewakoof.com is a `25-crore revenue company. Company was start with small apartment but, now 150-employee company.”
Presently, Bewakoof has over 1 million followers on Instagram and this shows the popularity of the brand amongst its users. The main reason for this massive popularity is that they create memes daily on their social media profiles which is highly liked by the people.
